Dear Julie
I hope you have the courage to copy Jane and will vote against Trident on Wednesday!
Jane Davidson AM has today publicly condemned plans by the New Labour government in Westminster to replace the Trident nuclear weapons system.See the BBC coverage here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/6439859.stmThis is a very significant and courageous intervention in the debate about Trident.Let's hope that it encourages Labour MPs to vote according to their conscience when the issue is debated in the Commons on Wednesday.Jane explains her reasons for speaking out on her own blog, which appears on her 'MySpace' web-pages which she has recently established as a way of communicating directly with the public - and especially younger people - in the run-up to the Assembly elections:http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=164756913&blogID=239834805&MyToken=7c9c0c23-63f1-4fa0-9953-8b2b5dda330aDr John Cox of CND Cymru will be addressing the Swansea Labour Left on the subject of Trident this Thursday - 15th March - at 7.30 pm in the Swansea Guildhall. . Please try to attend if you are able.CND has a useful 'No to Trident Replacement' campaign pack, avilable online.

While to be welcomed, one has to ask why Jane has only spoken out now? Some have cynically suggested that this is to do with Jane's bid to be the "left" candidate in the scramble when Rhodri steps down.
Why didn't she speak out over Israel's invasion of Lebanon over the summer?
Why has she remained silent over Iraq?
Too little, too late. Unless, this is the beginning of a sudden shift to the left by Jane and she is now going to consistently make statements and act in a way that is left wing.
