Dear Julie did you attend this meeting ..Straw was interviewed on stage by Jon Craig of Sky. At one point, a member of the audience asked Straw about post office closures - Straw scoffed and exclaimed “come on, hands up who’s used a post office in the last few months?”. At a quick count, just over half the audience stick their hands up - putting Jack back in his box.
The post office in Rhiwbina closed down last year. An elderly constituent of yours set off for the nearest post office to post some parcels. He had to take the bus as the walk is up a hill which is too much for him physically. After a 50 minutes wait at the bus stop without a shelter or seat for the every '20 mins' bus he finally arrived at the post office to find a extremely lengthy queue. He couldn't stand any longer and had to return home with his parcels. Is this what a 'what works' policy is about? We don't want post offices to close and can you please state clearly that you agree with that?
